#WarOfWords2 Emancipation by Foursyte Bogani

Emancipation by Foursyte Bogani

The evil wind came, ranting as darkness began to reign/

Pages of my life flew like birds up the sky/
Dangling in friendly canticle of nature/
Humiliating my indolent eyes/
Hot and breathless i sat/
judging every moment/
Watching every moment/
now,i remember what the old old man said/
in a crackling tattered voice/
my pikin, suffry, suffry catch monkey/
Person wey sleep for planting season go surely hungry when harvest time come/
I kiss this gift of wisdom with passion/
bury ashes of fear/
Sacrifice a lamb beholding salvation/
Mr. jailer how long will u keep me/
my dreams can not be manacled/
take your bread is forbiden/
hunger is nothing i have seen her nakedness/
let this pain eat up my flesh/
Bury my bones in the world of strangeness/
our fate will never change/
Chain and unchain i see mortals lying in the corridors of change/
is amazing God's blessings rest on all age/
i speak to those who care to dream/
the child that never sleep, battling reality all for a dream/
in the eyes of penury,confusion,misery,segregation,genocide,mutiny,grief/
no one knows when life will be no longer/
Walk with time,earth is home/
We are all strangers/
Rise above disbelief be the change you seek/

At Word Up Volume 5, he flew in from Calabar and showed his skill was no fluke. It was pure "Pidgin Spoken Word Poetry" at its best, no dilution, no disruption, no corruption. He just dey flow like say he get diarrhea of the mouth :)

His name is D-Ray, "the Pidgin Spoken Word Poet."

Check out his video and tell me what you think. But please note, he said,

"Hearing Safety, I dey talk carelessly with pidgin so wear ur seat-belt"...

The Pidgin Spoken Word Poetry Maestro!!!!

He came all the way from Calabar State with nothing but words.
His style is unique, funny and a joy to behold. I dare say, he is worthy of being called a maestro of Pidgin Spoken Word Poetry

His name is D-Ray, and he used his words to shine a light right into our hearts.

Though he did not win the maiden edition of War Of Words- Slam Poetry Competition (he is the 1st runner up), he sure did win us over to his side.

Because when he said "fall in love with poet," well, we fell in love with him.

#WarOfWords - Tug of War by Moses Ukam aka Young Flashy

This entry came in at a few seconds to 12 am last night.
Thus it is officially the last entry for War Of Words Slam Poetry Competition.
We have 23 videos in all,
and we are going to watch them all, over and over again,
before we pick the best 15 poets.
Who gets in?
Who gets axed?
Its unfortunately that we can't feature all the poets that put in their entry.
But it is good to know we have ready backup for the older and more established poets.
It is good to know that Spoken Word Poetry is growing in Nigeria,
and it is good to know, that this is just the beginning of something greater than we ever imagined.

War Of Words - Tug of War by Moses Ukam aka Young Flashy

In the history of existence no man,
I mean no man has ever won life nor
Defeat death; except him.
Him who lives in it,
Every particle that sustains man
To win it.did I say the devil? no!
Earth?...there are 52 equal percentage
Alphabetically cross-checked
Life-line  like a candle waxing wasting
Perhaps like a light up cigarette
Burning waiting for no smoker owner

With my finger I clutch my pen
I find myself traveling distance miles
Like a troubadour as i trounced
Yet ensuring words-war
Like wordsworth a word to word
Tug of war erupted as stray words
Fly-by sluts snatcher whore.....
What have you?the rest you know

Amidst this,she smiled
Like the scroll of the annals,
The archives inscribe with a secret
Of seduction such evolve the
Quest to a decipher the allegory yet
Unveiled shattering the iron-bars
Of my primitive inhibitions,with a
Nonsensical sense and incessant punch
Of a congealed feelings,
She smiled

In my heart she owns no space but
She's in it to win it.
Many a times she turns me into crime
To the almighty "yes"am guilty
But trust me she's always alibi
And mirth less. Like....(Laugh)
She brought me nothing but misery
And she made stress called a joy that Last for just few seconds but to
Behold all painful sweetness of Nothing.

I choose to make my words become
My swords and my lines as sharp as Oddesys arrow,so my sword arrow Crossed pierced into her
And she will loose her total strength
On the last day, when he will come
He will restore all the lost hopes
I saw on the eyes of late okon's
Children. I choose life in it,
I choose life in it to win my
Soul to Christ.

#WarOfWords -No be say Dem say by D Ray

This is the first Pidgin English entry,
and it is all the way from Calabar.
The guy dey yarn,
and I gbadun the yarn.
He said he is in it to win,
and his "winning get muscle."
Well, we shall see about that.

#WarOfWords-No be say Dem say by D Ray

At the beginning lines of my Rhyme schemes lays memories of noble laureates like Wole Soyinka, who have fought likes of metaphors and irony's wriggling words so that common sense won't die,so I refuse not the soft but to use words which are hard and heard to punch-kick lines of my lines like kung-fu;even as I say.....

If to say my pen get option,
Eee for no gree write dis poem
Or my mouth get cap
Eee for no gree spit dis lines

If to say "I go" get eye to see,
Eee for office me so dat "I go"
Talk say "I go" compose dis poem later Wen I go house unto say "I go"I go"
No go go get end.

If to say we be paper and some people
Na pen....hmn dat one?
Dem for don write us off tay!
Or even ma self erase our career
With tipex forget eraser
Our shelves for de for under bed
For inside one village.

If to say I get two face
Or i be dibia [Tu-FaceIdibia]
With black face[Black-Face]
I for face[Faze]
African Queens with my
Jazz like don[Don-Jazzy].

If to say I no enter dis cage come
Fight word to word gidigbo
With pidgin,my ideas for still re-scale. But unto say idea dear so te him-ma
Follow say" I"Dear"
Me ma self come know say dem know
Say me know say dem know say
I enter am to win am na
In it to win it
As I don enter am to win am?......
My wining get muscle.
