To win, all she did was show up!!!

She is 15 years old, and in order to win her first ever Slam Poetry Competition, all she did was show up.

Titilayo Mabogunje came with guns blazing on Sunday June 30th 2013 at War Of Words Slam Poetry, "she no even look Uche face" and took no prisoners. From the 1st round to the 3rd and last round, she had the highest score. She practically had the judges eating from her palms.

Personally, I am not too shocked she won. Ok, a little shocked, but not too much. You know why? Well, she is Atilola Moronfolu's protege.

If you know Atilola, then you will know Titi had no choice but to win, and win she did.

Just in case you are wondering what Titi said, did, performed or maybe did not say, that made her win. Well, check out the video below and get wowed!!!

The Pidgin Spoken Word Poetry Maestro!!!!

He came all the way from Calabar State with nothing but words.
His style is unique, funny and a joy to behold. I dare say, he is worthy of being called a maestro of Pidgin Spoken Word Poetry

His name is D-Ray, and he used his words to shine a light right into our hearts.

Though he did not win the maiden edition of War Of Words- Slam Poetry Competition (he is the 1st runner up), he sure did win us over to his side.

Because when he said "fall in love with poet," well, we fell in love with him.

Is this Poet always hard???

"Should I go eat on the roof to be fed up?"
One of the many lines Uzbek spewed at War Of Words - Slam Poetry Competition on Sunday, June 30, 2013.

He had so much to say, he was hard hitting, no holds barred, take no prisoners, murder them all,...... kind of poet.
Omo, no be small thing o!
Though he came in 2nd runner up, but he sure made the show something to watch and enjoy.

10 year old poet's entry for #WarOfWords Slam Poetry Competition

Her teacher told her he was entering for a poetry competition with a theme "It to win it." 30 minutes later, she had written a poem on the theme. That was pretty impressive, but when I now watched the video, I tripped!!!
Omo, see the swag, and she is just 10 year old.
You don't believe me, well, watch the video below.

ITEOLUWA AKINSUNMADE: #WarOfWords - In it to win
She is a 10 year old girl and is surely one for the future.
Watch out for her.

WAR OF WORDS (The Poem)

THE WAR OF WORDS
This battle is a War of words and of wits
Not a refuge to poets that’ll be torn to bits.
If then you think yourself a sage
Come 30th June there’ s a war to wage.
Eat up your paper words and come to stage
And poets shall speak and spark with rage.
I do not care if your appellation is Enigmatic
Or that in the past you have become Charismatic.
Sam not the Ram with a murderous horn,
For thou might be into thousand pieces torn.
You may on your page have a Saint Rhyme,
Come to stage and let’s do the poetic mime.
If Olulu likes let him invite the Rain,
This is the time to know the best in our Train.
