#WarOfWords2 Blank mirror by J-Quill

Blank mirror by J-Quill

Scene 1,
Tell me about a honest
Impostor,.smiling greedily
In a Pose like;Sizwe banzi
I mean
Polished Smiles
Rehearsed speech
Perfected etiquettes
Standing untop of rovers
Waving hands and at the
Right price?
My vote is yours

Scene 2 is like seeing 2000
Gentlemen,queuing for a
No-gentle man's job of a Driver
In a cement factory were only
One driver was needed anyway

Scene 3 unravels the mystery
As seen in cemetery
Marred visions of the
Allu victims
Aborted projects of corp members, caught up in flames
Or shredded in pieces yet
United in the phrase
"Mass burial"

Scene 4 is having four-seen a
Success,and amidst ur thrust
Tryna reach out tryna get it
Like a flash!,an unforeseen
Phrase from within
"Na man know man
World we dey"

So scene 5 survives the
Episode of the improvise me
Whose five senses realize that
The glued revolution I seek
Eludes sages revolution so
Even gazing @ d mirror,
I don't see me,absurdly
I can't see me but a missing
Figure of me in the mirror
You know why?

Cos the change I seek is not
The face I see in the mirror,
Its the inner-me in scene 1,
To scene 2 who don't neglect
Talent to sap for colar jobs
Or enbark on jungle justice
As seen in scene 3 so
When I see
"chop mama thank you "
Peers on scene 4 as a poet,
I'll let my pen bleed out
To stupor I mean,
My zeal for change
Would be the urge to purge out
The me within so
When the 5 scenes co-relates My 5 senses,
Then and until then can I be
The change I seek!

#WarOfWords2 GOOD ACTOR, BAD SCRIPT by Slimzy

Unique, inventive and nice.
She fine too :).
She just stepped it up a notch higher.
At this rate, it can only get better

GOOD ACTOR, BAD SCRIPT by Slimzy

The only thing that is constant in life is change.
That gives a bit of hope.
At least with time the dishes in Nollywood's menu might change,
Probably with the likes of Emeka Ike playing Jack Bauer in Nollywood's
version of 24
That aside.
Just the other day I overheard kids discussing.
It's almost like their beginning to see what my grandpa sees without climbing
an Iroko tree.
They had a picture of the life they wished they had.
But the paints and paper in their hand produced a picture of rage.
My ears took note of every conversation that took place in that
seemingly impossible conference room.
The design was quite worthy of note-for sure.
Drainage flowing with waters that infuse little drops of death within seconds
Pile of dirt formed a great pyramid, perfect tourist attraction.
Never before has my nose been treated to a first class hospitality.
Fragrance of heated up stink welcomed my smell organ to its humble aboard.
Poverty!
It's not just a word; it's a person.
See,
He stones my Saturdays and waste my Wednesdays
Snares my Sundays and toss my Tuesdays onto thorns
Freeze my Fridays and milk my Mondays
My Thursdays,he tears up into pieces.

But the question is,
What if you never had that jean sagging?
Maybe if you run on bare foots dirty rags all day
Do the one zero-zero pattern of feeding
Swim in the ocean of mosquitoes and get relaxed in the spa of malaria
Maybe just maybe you would receive sight to see the writing on the wall.
For me, It's simple!
I don't like what I see
So I
Clean up the mess that begins with me
Have a little chit-chat with myself
Arrange a proper talk show even if I'm my own audience
Never wait for the government to sign me up for some contract
Give my best to the very thing I love the most even though it's made worse
Exchange thoughts with geniuses to give life to the picture in their head.
Fact is,
The cleaner your attire, the better your chances
Quit playing the casualty and save your society.
GOOD ACTOR, BAD SCRIPT.

10 year old poet's entry for #WarOfWords Slam Poetry Competition

Her teacher told her he was entering for a poetry competition with a theme "It to win it." 30 minutes later, she had written a poem on the theme. That was pretty impressive, but when I now watched the video, I tripped!!!
Omo, see the swag, and she is just 10 year old.
You don't believe me, well, watch the video below.

ITEOLUWA AKINSUNMADE: #WarOfWords - In it to win
She is a 10 year old girl and is surely one for the future.
Watch out for her.

#WarOfWords - The Future I Believe by Clementina Owumi

This is our 3rd female poet and 10th video entry for War Of Words (Slam Poetry Competition).
But let me ask you,
What did you write about when you were 19?
How deep were your thoughts at that age?
She is petite in stature,
poetic in nature,
19 by age
and speaks words far beyond her years.
Her words inspires me,
for it shows the future is worth believing in.

#WarOfWords - The Future I Believe by Clementina Owumi

Nothing is hidden except it be a treasure
Nothing found lest it be a secret
Yester's africa tells of history
Cries of offspring flowing like luxury men
Who pierce hot iron on others skull finds it pleasurable
Gbosal rules the affairs of men unmeasurable
leaving us royal peasants to trends at dawn and dusk on dead bodies.
Once upon a time when hope clouds
Our minds we swim in the pool of blood and walk on the street of dead bodies
out of the sofa is a fog of death
The men on khaki  and leather pride their flaws with no remorse
The stars in darkened skies, staring into the air like fools
Dirges like mtn we hear
Tribulations we cannot bear
Then we are force to say:::::::::::::::
Chorus:
Ku ba ye tu       sam   ba ye tu      2x
As the day ticks
The cry for justice fills our lips
Our tears unnoticed
As we strive for peace when will the sun ever shine?
The call of offspring's we pick
Defeat delicacy we are allowed to lick our royal garment we have torn
Rope  of defeat we have worn
Cloud of darkness in our sunny sky so we ask again
when will the sun ever shine?
chorus:
we shall overcome (2x)
we shall  overcome someday -------
oh oh deep in my hear---rt
I do believe -------
we shall overcome someday.
In it to win!
yesterday is gone , forget it!
tomorrow does not exist! lets carry on
take no thought of the marrow
consider the birds in the fields and the birds in the air
they have no time for planting and harvesting
but the man above all
caters for them all
Gone are those days my dear
we can face it without fear
the future is here
no too hard to bear
the future is you and I
even though we have fall in the pit of hell
cos there was no cell to ring the bell
it's time to tell that all is well

even in that well, we shall excel!

#WarOfWords- Just Let Me Be by Neofloetry

We got another lady in the house.
And she is flowing all the way from Port Harcourt.
She said we should let her be,
Be where?
On stage?
On Word Up?
Well, we wish we can let you be,
but a Spoken Word Poet has no hiding place.
We find you and let your art shine through.

#WarOfWords- Just Let Me Be by Neofloetry

I seek to trust your every word,
words said, sounding like clashing cymbals
to my ears
When will i wake up from this trance called sleep
without seeing your shadows lurking behind
you will not let me be when i sought to be in peace

Your messages make me stay in pieces,
i, hoping to gather my parts someday
you install camera-like eyes, watching my every move......
when i eat, drink or even doing the hump?

Damn! you promised me FREEDOM, but it all seem so dumb
when just can't let me be
Complete nonsense, common sense met it's doom
when it came to dwell in the very center of your being.

Just let me be, let me be because your magnanimous governmental
abuse of power keeps raging in my mind, it makes me want to drive
my fist into your EMPTY WORDS!
May i beg to be FREE, of which i know your permission
is not really needed

You filled my head with the devils music,
playing the wierdest metallic hardcore from the deep
embers of MADNESS, Sadness, the theme of every hidden agenda, this
makes me want to ponder...

You scream JUSTICE, we shout justice!
Tell me, who is the next to DES-TROY us?
Your criminal mind is hazy but doesn't phase me

Go on and put your mind to rest
if you can't control the leaking BLACK TARPAULINS
that you set up for PROTECTION

JUST LET ME BE, let me be, because
Your gray strands seem to tell the whole story
but you pressed on, wanting
to remove the the logs in our eyes
Whose eyes? mine? yours? theirs? tell me

How far can you go on scrutinizing, causing unacceptable
destruction...a black heart in a black house?
with billions of voices moving in accord as of the waves
of the deepest seas

Can you stop these voices from playing in your head
as the next GBONO song? i think not, because
I am black, you are black, they are black
the world is dark but your hue, i mean, your chrome
is mono, get some colors

You tell us your VISION is TWENTY-TWENTY
How clear is that pathway you created for these eagles
preparing to fly?
JUST LET ME BREATHE, let me be.

#WarOfWords - The girl from the slum by Kemistry

Now I love this entry, you want to know why? Well, she is bold, hot, and flows well.
Yeah, that's right, we have got a female poet in the house, and she is gunning for the crown.

#WarOfWords - The girl from the slum by Kemistry

There is nothing new about being a slave of hunger
But the of its existence is the thing I ponder
I've had my hands fold
My heart cold against my bone
I've reached for height to stand
But still drop in fear of having failure for result

Do you know the tale of my yesterday's death?
Never...
For the pains in stones that raped my heart are beyond thought
Have you ever met life when naked with fears of evil painted in its eyes?
That's the ballad of my death
When I still can't figure out a dream of being human
But only sorrow to wet my vein
And pursue one dream of stealing my mother's tears

Under my roof
When it rains, I have my bucket on my chest
No brain to think of tea
Damn the mind set of warmth
When every step taken in finding a better sleep

Makes you want to feel guilty of being born

I've plucked my eyeballs with the help of tears before
I crawled along life's speed
Knowing nowhere to heed
In silence of soreness, I selfishly enjoyed my loop
Stepping on different hooks

I carried the whole world rock
Shattering in heart
Tattered In soul

Scattered in mind
In search of hope

Dead hope?
The on e that create in heart a deep hole
My pains I tried to fold
There she goes
To the heart of the rain with her load
Even when rain turns snow
Let sky break down brick after brick
I'll never grow sick
For I've died thousand times
Again rise
So my birth become a song in full lyrics

Now I stand firm like a mountain
I soar higher than the peak of birds in the sky
I striped failure naked
For I want to be the head
I am failure worst nightmare

I'm the mountain,
am the rain,
am the wind,
I'm the sun
I'm the sky that birth them all
Failure is the greatest thing I lack
I'm the girl beyond imagination
Indefinable, I am
The hotness in fire is me
Come thunders, come tempest
All of it I will throw to my t'aichi
My vein no longer grow phobia for fear
For I've climbed mountains
To the greatest height
I've walked darkness in search of light
I've lost diamond in battle for might
Now I've grown
And I know
The fear of failure begins the birth of life.
