#WarOfWords2 WISHES ARE FANTASIES by OSIGWE BENJAMIN

WISHES ARE FANTASIES by OSIGWE BENJAMIN

We sell our trust to worthless buyers in exchanges for peanuts
We let them preach us decorated lies
For us to habour hope for the future blessings
They preach love but, hold on so tight to hatred in hearts
They preach change but join the Abiku race to inject us with pains

Beggars from different kiosk quarters
Scattered in streets, moving in tow
Clattering plates with their un-toned songs
To win attentions, just for daily arms
And mummies line in death lanes
Straining their weak voices for already crushed wealths
That may not be revived if hands folds on
With tight sealed lips

We lay our pains on titanic smiles merging sadness and happiness
Life and death
For fear is gradually kissing us out of life
We fix irony on words
To make wounded hearts mild
But we can't keep this ball of life rolling
On self propounded lies.
Wishes are dreams
Be the change you seek!

I will preach it
I will say it
I won't wish it

Wishes are fantasies with wings
Flying away out of sight
With its betrayer's act
Abandoning you to drag yourself back to reality
And then hopelessness starts to parade in thoughts
Leaving one to wish that he could not have sold himself
To his own minds eyes
And here frustration befriends all static wishers

I will preach it
I will say it
I will sing it like freedom songs
But certainly I won't dream it
For the income of illusions wishes
Are the shovels of our dead bones to come

Leaving the unburied dreams hanging
For more of our kinds to come drink
From glasses of pains and agonies

Direct and guide your trust, they are gods
And very priceless
Start now to chant your war songs
To be the change you seek
For there is no way out
Than we being the change we seek
Like Martin Luther King thought me to always remember
That freedom can never be voluntaraly giving by the oppressors
It must be demanded by the oppressed

Olulu on City Lace NTA 2 talking about Spoken Word Poetry in Nigeria

Spoken Word is a revival of an ancient African art form.

It is words spoken with a rhythm not necessarily a beat and

not necessarily rhyming.

Spoken word has a through line, it is soulful, it can be fun and

beautiful and definitely requires skill.

It is often compared to poetry.

Spoken Word Poetry is when emotions find thought and thoughts

find words.

#WarOfWords2 Be the change u seek by Rage.

Be the change u seek by Rage.
Enough is Enough..
If it is true love.. then u say it to my face.Cos all I need is one love.. Tuface .
Just the other day I saw on CNN, I hide face..
CHIDI was d violence..
so Lloyd used d mace..
u say one word.
I say change..
I am not afraid..
Don't u know.. I am "rage"..
I may be deranged ; but I still wage.. wage wars..
war of words.
I am not the spoken word.
I only speak change through words... Time we sheathe our swords , guns,  bombs and be born, reborn, buildings true bonds of freedom.
We all are freeborn.
U maybe young, lazy..
But u cannot be forever young ..Jay z
still chasing wrong..since history..
Posterity will never seize to judge us.. until we stop and change course:
"off course"..
I have a dream..
I dream to live..
I dream to live my dream.
to be king: "Martin Luther"
King without a crown..
crown him king we deed ..Indeed..
for our sufferings;
offering even his on life..
life less he now is but less life we even shall be should we not rise and speak.
If u speak change,
then u must bring change..
If u want change ..
then u must change..
Do not change yourself,
Be "Change" itself..
Rise up and speak..
Be the change u seek..
Still raging , still waging wars
"war of words"
I am still "Rage"..

JUST BEFORE YOU GIVE UP.

by Chiemezie Ibe

The sky is wide enough for all birds to fly,

And so is the water for all fish to swim.

Never give up on your dream, don't be afraid to try.

Stay focused someday you'll live your dream.

The road to success is long, rough & narrow,

Patience is like a path you must choose to follow

One step at a time live today before tomorrow,

Fast lane in no time will end you up in the gallows

Life is like a game, to win you must play by the rule,

and being yourself always is your greatest tool.

Never let the world tell you who you are,

Remember no matter what that you are a star.

Why settle for less when you can be the best?

Till you get to the top may you never find rest.

Just before you  quit remember Abraham Lincoln,

Fight on,

What matters in the end is that you  won.

What I would do with $388,550...!!!!

What would you do if money did not matter?

OK, wrong question cos money matters, it only varies in the degree of importance.
Like blood to the body, so is money to business.
But, if you were to ask me, what would you do with $388,550?
The answer?
I will change the world.

What would I do with $388,550?
Well, for now I have just one dream,
"Create a vibrant Spoken Word Poetry industry in Nigeria thereby creating opportunities for people especially the youths to express their God given talents and make a very decent living from it."
You see, we were all created for impact, and the impact you make is the legacy you leave behind.
I am a believer in doing what you are loving, and loving what you are doing. I also believe people should be loving life and living in love.

How will $388,550 create an industry?
Well, that’s the simple part.
First, start the biggest Spoken Word Poetry show in Nigeria on a quarterly basis and ensure all Spoken Word Poets get paid “handsomely” for performing. (We have actually started doing this, even though we are yet to implement every aspect fully).
Second, start a slam poetry competition with a very “handsome” cash reward attached.
Third, take the biggest Spoken Word Poetry show in Nigeria from one State to another State in Nigeria.
Fourth, start a slam poetry competition for tertiary institutions students.
Fifth, start a slam poetry competition between different States in Nigeria.
Sixth, start a slam poetry competition between different Countries in West Africa, and then Africa, and then, Nigeria versus USA J.
Seventh, there will definitely be an offshoot of the initial dream, and that would be my next target.

Would $388,500 be able to do all this?
Probably not.
But it would jump start 1 and 2, and you know what they say about the law of Aerodynamics, (i.e. when a plane starts to move and reaches a certain speed, the only thing it can do is to take off. By taking off, it defies the law of gravity and the only way the plane will succumb to the law of gravity and come down back to the ground is if it reduces speed or run out of fuel).
The more you do what you love to do, the more you gain momentum. The more momentum you gain, the more it is difficult to keep you from flying.

Ok, I guess you might want to ask, what is so special about Spoken Word Poetry? Why do I love Spoken Word Poetry?
True is, I don’t know why, I just do.
My personal mission in life is to make people happy, and Spoken Word Poetry is the vehicle that chose me. I didn't do the choosing.
I believe Spoken Word Poetry can motivate people to strive for excellence.
I believe Poets can inspire, excite, entertain, inform and connect with people through Spoken Word Poetry.
I believe we can discover, nurture and promote spoken word poets so as to provide a means of livelihood for them and reduce the rate of poverty and unemployment in the country.

Where are the poets?
They are all over the world, in every company, in every place of business, in every place of worship and in every schools. We have some are in the court room, some are in the hospitals, some are in construction companies, some in the automobile companies, many are in the banking hall as tellers and many more in other companies.

Don’t I want to have a nice mansion, cars and other good things of life instead of pursing a “silly” dream?
Who doesn't?  But those things don’t last forever, ideas last forever. That’s why some people would say the world is ruled by dead people, cos it’s their ideas/ dreams that became realities that you and I now enjoy, use and /or practice.

What happens if I don’t get the $388,550?
Well, like 50 Cent, we will make this dream a reality one way or the other, or die trying…………….!!!

IN MY TRACKS (a Spoken Word Piece)

When I was a boy
I often looked up to mama
‘Tell me what I’d become when I grow up.’
But mama never understood my plight
She called me a lawyer or an engineer
At other times she called me a soldier
Maybe for background or the state of our nation
But really those didn’t satisfy the crave in my world

Yes I want to be great and live large-to touch more lives
Have all the money in the world or command them all
But they seem too small compared to my earthly dream

If you see mama please tell her my dream
I want to record something in the sand of time
Creating a record that no one has ever done
Even if my record was eventually beaten
Either by some nobles or some highly blessed
Maybe their work may not even be as good as mine
But at least I created the record first
They all followed in my tracks
Who could defend it? They all became my clone!

Utopia???!!!!!!! (A Spoken Word Poem)

 Utopia???!!!!!!!

Is it utopian to say what should be?
To desire a country that should be
Wrapped in freedom, peace and unity...
I want...
I want a Nigeria where politics is not based on your pocket.
I want a Nigeria where politics is not based on your friends.
I want a Nigeria where politics is not based on thuggery and the propensity of cultism.
I want a Nigeria where politics is not based on pedigree and class stratification.
I want a Nigeria where politics is not based on the number of people you have murdered and your ability to criticize.
I want a Nigeria where politics is not based on negative stratagem

Utopia???!!!!!!!

I want a Nigeria where politics is based on your positive content
I want a Nigeria where the politicians have pedigree in politics not family.
Where right from a certain age a child's strengths are defined and schooled along the lines of political leadership.
Then we would have no fear of the wrong political leadership at the elections.
A crop of people discipled from childhood for the main purpose of ruling Nigeria with unbroken loyalty to the growth and holistic development of the country.
I want a Nigeria where accountability is a blessing not a curse.
I want a Nigeria where the leaders have strength of character and obedience to the sanctity of marriage and single-hood.
Where women and men do not take philandering as the pecks of office.
I want a Nigeria where when we say no to evil we won't be locked up in a dungeon for years and be subject to euthanasia.
I want a Nigeria where good is celebrated and evil is eschewed.

Utopia???!!!!!!!
Makes me dream
Of a nation
where elections will be free and fair not ruthlessly dashed to pieces on the political playground of greed, self aggrandizement and power drunkenness.

Utopia???!!!!!!!
Makes me dream
Of a nation where the democratic government dare not make a fool of themselves and have the president rule a country in absentia.

Utopia???!!!!!!!
Makes me dream
Of a nation where the idea of democracy is upstanding and good intentioned for citizens to run for public office without the fear of selectionism or bias.
Where Politics is a profession and career based on the process of actualizing the need to serve.

Utopia???!!!!!!!
Makes me dream
Of a nation
Where it is not rife with the blame game, but a country where public and political office holders are accountable for their actions and a thousand years of political drudgery would be as a ripple in the ocean.

Utopia???!!!!!!!
Makes me dream
Of a nation
Where the cradle is not beleaguered by corruption and war: their families don't miss them! Where we develop patriotic loyalists teach and train them on the Nigeria we must see.

Utopia???!!!!!!!
Makes me dream
Of a nation
Where we shall run like mighty men; overcome world challenges like men of war; and they shall march everyone on his ways, they shall not break their ranks: Neither shall one thrust another; they shall walk everyone in his path: and when they fall upon the sword, they shall not be wounded.

Utopia???!!!!!!!
Makes me dream
Of a nation
Where every man: young and old rests in peace under the shade of his own tree

Utopia???!!!!!!!
Aye or nay?

Reality!!!
