#WarOfWords -No be say Dem say by D Ray

This is the first Pidgin English entry,
and it is all the way from Calabar.
The guy dey yarn,
and I gbadun the yarn.
He said he is in it to win,
and his "winning get muscle."
Well, we shall see about that.

#WarOfWords-No be say Dem say by D Ray

At the beginning lines of my Rhyme schemes lays memories of noble laureates like Wole Soyinka, who have fought likes of metaphors and irony's wriggling words so that common sense won't die,so I refuse not the soft but to use words which are hard and heard to punch-kick lines of my lines like kung-fu;even as I say.....

If to say my pen get option,
Eee for no gree write dis poem
Or my mouth get cap
Eee for no gree spit dis lines

If to say "I go" get eye to see,
Eee for office me so dat "I go"
Talk say "I go" compose dis poem later Wen I go house unto say "I go"I go"
No go go get end.

If to say we be paper and some people
Na pen....hmn dat one?
Dem for don write us off tay!
Or even ma self erase our career
With tipex forget eraser
Our shelves for de for under bed
For inside one village.

If to say I get two face
Or i be dibia [Tu-FaceIdibia]
With black face[Black-Face]
I for face[Faze]
African Queens with my
Jazz like don[Don-Jazzy].

If to say I no enter dis cage come
Fight word to word gidigbo
With pidgin,my ideas for still re-scale. But unto say idea dear so te him-ma
Follow say" I"Dear"
Me ma self come know say dem know
Say me know say dem know say
I enter am to win am na
In it to win it
As I don enter am to win am?......
My wining get muscle.

#WarOfWords - In it to win by Micheal Stanley aka Aimhigh

Have you ever been in a point in your life, where you feel like quiting?
If you have, I guess for you this poem is written.
Sometimes I get confused of the troubles God is permitting
If wishes were horses,I guesss I would have ridden.

Cos am rising daily
My hustling is getting deeper.
The plans to get to my goals are getting bolder
Have been rejected, restricted and thrown aside
I reflect my prospectives is to go inside
When I was young i pray to God to teach me how to write
And when am writing,

I hear angels speaking
I remember my first performance,

how hard I prepared
I remember even chairs did not cheer.

My second performance

I thought it was a blast
The B was taken off and I took last
My friends said Aimhigh you are gonna fail
My Mama said cool boy, God is going to put them to shame
Even when I had no more lines, I could still write
He took me off my past and off the street
He knew my dream was poetry
He knew i want to make history.
He gave olulu the idea to take me there
And now am on wordup people
Am in it to win.

#WarOfWords- NEVER LOSE YOUR COMPOSURE by IKEJE INNOCENT

Hmm, short and straight to the point.
Not a poet of many words I guess.
Its really not about the length of words,
what matters, is the weight of the words.
After all, better little words with plenty sense
than plenty talk with plenty nonsense.

#WarOfWords- NEVER LOSE YOUR COMPOSURE by IKEJE INNOCENT

When does opportunity meet preparedness to be called luck?
At what point do agreement and disagreement align to be tag Dialogue?
What time of the year would dreams be unlock?
How can I fetch diamonds from this little rocks?
To get answer to all these enquiries on whose door should I knock?
Equal and unequivocal strength we must continue to mount
For we are not certain what fight will give us the bout.
Irrespective of the odds, don't vocally express doubt.
Until we confirm the veracity of the effort, that counts
Our aim must be to get to the fount.
Remember to be heard you need not shout.
For the task needs a heart that is stout
We will certainly be rewarded for a bit of effort we have forgotten a about.
Don't lose heart if things don't seem to be panning out.

#WarOfWords - My vision, My mission by Felix D Great

Today was feeling a lil tired,
wondering if our effort to grow Spoken Word Poetry in Nigeria is worth it.
But the poem below seems to be a message to keep keeping on.
After all, life is not a bed of roses.
So there will always be some form of restriction and limitation,
but surviving and thriving should always remain our only option.
For our limitation is not a function of our condition,
our limitation is a function of our decision.

#WarOfWords - My vision, My mission by Felix The Great

I have vision that supersedes human imagination
I am on a mission to transform my generation
To bring restoration back to my nation
So we live a life of jubilation

I am heading to a precious destination
A land of restitution
A land of celebration
A land where against us there would be no condemnation

But I am faced by situations of heavy devastation
My way is filled with trails and tribulations
And my soul craves for internal redemption

My days are filled with tears
My heart with worries and fear
This vision seem so unclear
The land I seek is nowhere near

These burden of pain I cannot bear
These garment of shame I want to un-wear
Wish someone can my cry hear
And help me with this dream that is so rare

But looking around i see no one who cares
And giving up is all my mind shares
Then comes this loud voice inside my ear
Words of liberation that is all I hear

It says: look not at what you see and do no listen to what your mind share
I have given you the spirit of boldness not fear
I am with you, you know that I care
Given up is not an option, cos I am in it to win.

Shebi you don make mouth finish.
You forget na me go be judge, jury, prosecutor, and executioner for that day.
Walahi if you no win eh.........anyways,

#WarOfWords - EXTRATERRESTRIAL by Seye La Poet

Some win some
Some loose some
But, I win all
Infact! that's my objective in every war
So, War Of Words cannot be an exception
And to all my competitors...please, wait at the reception

You see I know success like the very hair on my chest
Even the best of the best say I'm the best
So, whilst so are worked up on how to win
I'm relaxed sipping metaphors and punch lines like a cup of tea

Make no mistake
I'm in this to win
Even if Olulu and his team are members of PDP

Make no mistake
I'm in this to win
I'm extraterrestrial
Not a human being

#WarOfWords - Life by El-Karis Kbeat Ipinmoroti

Life
wife
strife
Strive
Hive
Five
Surive
Well, just trying my rhyming skills,
but its not about me,
its about El-Karis
as he tells us his view on life.

#WarOfWords - Life by El-Karis Kbeat Ipinmoroti

LIFE- can anyone define it
we know not what its all about we only know who designed it
the quest to know the answer is the reason am writting
so many findings has been done ultimatesearch couldnt find it
ya.now to the issue of the day
why are we born if we are still going to die anyway?
why do we smile if we are still going to cry anyway?
and why do we cry if we are still going to smile anyways?
i guess life should be called a two way traffic
cos u either sell or u buy
u either smile or u cry
u say the truth or u lie
u either live or u die.
now some people are born poor for no fault of theirs
nobody sends them and no one really cares
while others are born into fortune and inherited shares
IS THIS FAIR
they say the only place to find ultimate peace is in the grave
its applicable to everyone, rich or poor it remains desame
human wants are unlimited, one goes another comes in
demn,another comes in.
atimes i wonder why we worry about things we cant change
everything happens for a reason, good or bad
and that we cant change

#WarOfWords - The Race by Osowe Olugbenga

The world is a hard place
and many people are running a rat race.
Most of them leave the world with no trace
cos nothing stands to remind us of their place.

Before I start my own poem about the race,
sharply comot your face,
and run go read the poem below titled the race,

might be a guideline on how to enter the place.
When I say enter the place,
I no mean like TuFace!!!!!

#WarOfWords - The Race by Osowe Olugbenga

This life is a race like the Grand Prix
And I have got my winning Formula

1, I stand strong and keep my focus,
Ignoring all the hordes of distractions and their hocus-pocus
Keeping my concentration on the winner’s medal as my sole attraction
Even as I put on the garment of persistence
No matter the barriers and resistance
Enduring the pain,
Knowing that my efforts would not be in vain,
When the trophy becomes my gain,
Bringing me fame at the end of this game
And then the whole world would hear my name

2, I tackle this race like a battle,
My resolve to win none can rattle,
God’s promise to me surer than the words any oracle’s
That’s why I step into the fray to face all obstacles,
Facing challenges, daring to do the impossible
Standing, I arm myself with the ultimate weapon- my words,
Speaking victory and mysteries,
Casting aside the elements of fear, doubts and miseries
I arm myself with the words that bring life,
So death cannot thrive,
My words bring me victory and light
So failure and darkness, take flight

3, I face this race of life like a football game,
Where I; am on God’s team, my victory – guaranteed,
Though challenges may come like an opponent with great skills and fancy dribbles,
I’ve only got eyes on the goal post, not on life’s foibles,
I set my targets, ready, aim and I shoot,
For the thrill of goals scored, the joy of success
Will kill all memories of the stress and distress
So now I apply my heart knowledge, just like a student of calculus
Differentiating my strengths from my weaknesses, but this is no talk about dy/dx
Rather I seek to know the why, the what, the who, the when and the how
To overcome my weaknesses, and then
I integrate my skills and opportunities
Making them of benefit to mankind and to God who
Daily loads me with benefits

So I stand and say this
That though the task before me be daunting,
And the crowd of doubters, increasing
I am in this battle of life to win it
Even when I take steps, that seem limiting,
And life’s troubles come at me in their legions
I will be the champion, for I am in it to win it
Come rain, come shine, come cold, come heat,
I’d never quit but stand strong, holding my head up
The victor at the end of it all!

#WarOfWords - The Future I Believe by Clementina Owumi

This is our 3rd female poet and 10th video entry for War Of Words (Slam Poetry Competition).
But let me ask you,
What did you write about when you were 19?
How deep were your thoughts at that age?
She is petite in stature,
poetic in nature,
19 by age
and speaks words far beyond her years.
Her words inspires me,
for it shows the future is worth believing in.

#WarOfWords - The Future I Believe by Clementina Owumi

Nothing is hidden except it be a treasure
Nothing found lest it be a secret
Yester's africa tells of history
Cries of offspring flowing like luxury men
Who pierce hot iron on others skull finds it pleasurable
Gbosal rules the affairs of men unmeasurable
leaving us royal peasants to trends at dawn and dusk on dead bodies.
Once upon a time when hope clouds
Our minds we swim in the pool of blood and walk on the street of dead bodies
out of the sofa is a fog of death
The men on khaki  and leather pride their flaws with no remorse
The stars in darkened skies, staring into the air like fools
Dirges like mtn we hear
Tribulations we cannot bear
Then we are force to say:::::::::::::::
Chorus:
Ku ba ye tu       sam   ba ye tu      2x
As the day ticks
The cry for justice fills our lips
Our tears unnoticed
As we strive for peace when will the sun ever shine?
The call of offspring's we pick
Defeat delicacy we are allowed to lick our royal garment we have torn
Rope  of defeat we have worn
Cloud of darkness in our sunny sky so we ask again
when will the sun ever shine?
chorus:
we shall overcome (2x)
we shall  overcome someday -------
oh oh deep in my hear---rt
I do believe -------
we shall overcome someday.
In it to win!
yesterday is gone , forget it!
tomorrow does not exist! lets carry on
take no thought of the marrow
consider the birds in the fields and the birds in the air
they have no time for planting and harvesting
but the man above all
caters for them all
Gone are those days my dear
we can face it without fear
the future is here
no too hard to bear
the future is you and I
even though we have fall in the pit of hell
cos there was no cell to ring the bell
it's time to tell that all is well

even in that well, we shall excel!
